The Tour category is open to all road registered cars without the need for a roll cage, it’s an untimed, non competitive category with a 130km/hr speed limit. This gave plenty of opportunity to let the car stretch it’s legs on the stunning Reefton Spur, Lake Mountain roads and surrounding tarmac treasures while allowing drivers to really pay attention to their car and driving inputs, improve their skills and enjoy the closed roads with safety measures in place.
DAD Ambassador Paul Maric joined the Tour in the Hyundai i30 N kindly provided by Hyundai, having driven many a circuit in his career this was Paul’s first exciting experience with tarmac rallying. The pocket rocket i30 N crackled and popped it’s way through the stages while comfortably keeping pace with the bigger setups – fair to say it’s at home on the rally stages!
While Paul worked the stages in the Hyundai, Sarah and Adam enjoyed cruising through this beautiful part of Victoria in the Lexus GS F, kindly provided by Lexus for the weekend. It was ideal for fitting all the weekend and event gear in, as well as providing plenty of V8 power and fun.
Saturday afternoon was bathed in glorious spring sunshine for our charity car display which brought together car clubs, individuals, the local community and our competition and Tour entrants for car chats and catch ups after a busy day of rallying.
Our involvement with the ATRC is about bringing new driving experiences to our community and connecting with people over a shared enthusiasm for motoring. We’re thankful to the event organisers for supporting our partnership and for their donation to DAD for each entrant in the Tour who registers through our website.
The next ATRC Tour event is Mt. Baw Baw Sprint on 23 – 24 February 2019. Registrations are now open HERE. We’ve love to share the experience with you!
